Sevan Music Festival – Interview with Armen Avetisyan and Seven Colors of the Rainbow

Posted on 11.08.2016 by Aram

Armen Avetisyan’s seven colors of the rainbow

_You are very creative. What memorable encounters have you had that have lived with you?

_Yes, I compose and sing I work mainly instrumental and vocal genres. I met with Charles Aznavour and other opera greats such as Placido Domingo and received master classes with Vahan Mirakyan.

_Do you believe beauty begins with a sense of surprise and wonderment like that of a child? What promoted you to work this way?

_For me beauty begins that idea and the right size determines the beauty.

_My childhood left a big mark on me, growing up on the Shirak plain. When you look from the mountain top and you see the colors below, the fields and fields, you just want to grab them.

_How do you find your creative “hidden place”?

_I sing. There have been a lot of youth competitions and I have received several awards. The first was an instrumental piece for cello and piano that I wrote at the age of 14.

_What is the song, the song is born, and why is born. What is the song “the song is born” and why born?

_When it was born, it was born a song. The song’s emotional aspects are highly expressing the unity of word and music.

_Have you ever been to other countries? Are there any things you have seen that you would like to change in our country?

I have been to France and Austria. Here we have good education and culture, which is not inferior to Europe, but the culture is definitely something to look at. I don’t think I would change anything though.

_We know that sometimes new ideas can be risky. What have you done that has been risky or taken a long time?

_I have carried out a few projects. I would say, the “Singing Armavir” Recitation Contest-Festival, working in schools, and places supported by the cultural department of the regional administration are difficult but good.

_What does the rainbow represent to you?

_The rainbow represents peace, and I like the color orange.

_Thank you for the interview. What would you like to say to the people at the Sevan Music Festival?

_Let the activities be blessed and fruitful.
