– In the chaotic world of musical genres, how did you realize that national music was closer to you?
I come from the village of Msho Diadin, so I can say that national music is in my blood. It is pride and life to me. Additionally, I started singing and performing national songs from a very young age, so it has been a part of me for as long as I can remember.
– If, one day, due to life circumstances, you had to leave national music and sing in another genre, which genre would you choose?
If that day ever comes, I wouldn’t be afraid. I would gladly try myself in the jazz genre, although national music will always remain on a much higher, different level for me.
– Could you tell us a little about your work with the band “Gata”?
The songs of the “Gata” band, baked by the skilled hands of Andranik and Garik, I believe, turn out to be very tasty. I constantly feel the need for flavorful music. In today’s world, national songs are often distorted, so there is always a need to present them correctly. My friend Hrayer and I, together with the “Gata” band, tried to create a song that would stand out with its quality and sound. I think we were able to achieve our goal and present fresh, updated versions of national songs to the audience. In my opinion, our “tasty gata” can be considered a success.
– Do you think national music is sufficiently accepted and widespread in society today?
In my opinion, it is quite widespread. From what I’ve noticed, both young people and adults listen to it, meaning there are no age limitations. For example, I am often invited to sing at weddings, and I have to say that people become more lively with the sound of the zurna, which I consider a very positive fact in our time.
– What are the upcoming plans for the “Gata” band, as well as your personal activities?
The band is planning new song recordings and music videos. As for my personal activities, I am focused on educating children. I have dedicated myself to my students, putting all my energy into instilling national values such as singing and dancing in them. And I must mention a joyful fact: my students can now distinguish between high-quality and low-quality music. National songs are held in high regard in their hearts.
– Why did you decide to participate in the Sevan Music Festival?
Whenever I go to Sevan, I sit by the shore and sing “Tagvoragovk’.” The festival, both in terms of location and format, intrigued me. When I read the call for participation, I immediately decided that I had to be part of it. Presenting traditional songs with modern instrumentation is an interesting endeavor. Furthermore, I believe the festival has many vibrant colors, and it’s definitely worth participating in such colorful events.

-Երաժշտական ժանրային քաոսում ինչպե՞ս հասկացաք, որ ձեզ ավելի մոտ է ազգային երաժշտությունը:
-Ես արմատներով Մշո Դիադին գյուղից եմ, ուստի, կարող եմ ասել, որ ազգային երգը նստած եմ իմ արյան մեջ, այն ինձ համար հպարտույուն ու կյանք է: Բացի այդ ես ազգային երգեր սկսել եմ երգել ու կատարել դեռ վաղ տարիքից:
-Եթե մի օր կյանքի բերումով ստացվի այնպես, որ ստիպված լինեք թողնել ազգային երգը և երգել մեկ այլ ժանրով, ո՞ր ժանրի վրա կանգ կառնի ձեր ընտրությունը:
-Եթե համարձակվի այդ օրը գալ, ես չեմ վախենա, մեծ հաճույքով ինձ կփորձեմ նաև ջազի ժանրում, չնայած որ ազգային երաժշտությունը ինձ համար միշտ մնալու է այլ, շատ բարձր հարթակում:
-Կխնդրեմ մի փոքր պատմեք <<Գաթա>> բենդում ձեր գործունեության մասին:
-<<Գաթա>> բենդի երգերը` Անդրանիկի և Գարիկի հմուտ ձեռքով թխված, ըստ իս, շատ համեղ են ստացվում, և ես անընդհատ պահանջ եմ զգում համով երաժշտության: Մեր օրերում ամենուր աղավաղվում են ազգային երգերը, ուստի անընդհատ կարիք կա դրանք մատուցել ճիշտ: Ես և ընկերս՝ Հրայրը, փորձել ենք <<Գաթայի>> հետ համատեղ թխել երգ, որը կտարբերվի իր որակով և հնչուններով: Կարծում եմ՝ մեր առաջ դրված նպատակը կարողացանք որոշակիորեն իրականացնել և լսարանին մատուցել ազգային երգերի ավելի թարմ, նորացված տարբերակներ: Իմ կարծիքով՝ մեր համեղ գաթան կարող ենք ստացված համարել:
–Ի՞նչ եք կարծում, այսօր ազգային երգը բավականաչափ ընդունված և տարածվա՞ծ է հասարակության մեջ:
-Իմ կարծիքով բավականին տարածված է, որքանով որ ես եմ նկատել, լսում են և՛ երիտասարդները, և՛ մեծահասակները, այսինքն՝ տարիքային սահմանափակում էլ չկա: Օրինակ՝ ինձ շատ են հրավիրում երգելու հարսանիքներին, ու պիտի ասեմ, որ մարդիկ ավելի աշխուժանում են զուռնայի ճչան ձայնից, ինչը շատ ողջունելի փաստ եմ համարում մեր օրերում:
-Ի՞նչ ծրագրեր կան <<Գաթա>> բենդի հետ կապված, ինչպես նաև բենդից դուրս:
-Խմբի հետ սպասվում են նոր երգերի ձայնագրություններ, տեսահոլովակներ, իսկ ինչ վերաբերում է իմ անհատական գործունեությանը, ասեմ, որ զբաղվում եմ` երեխաներին կրթելով, ինձ նվիրել եմ սաներիս ու ողջ եռանդս ներդնում եմ իրենց մեջ արմատավորելու ազգային արժեքները՝ երգը, պարը: Ու պիտի մի ուրախալի փաստ նշեմ՝ սաներս արդեն կարողանում են տարբերել որակյալ և անորակ երաժշտությունը. իրենց մեջ ավելի բարձր աստիճանի է դրված ազգային երգը:
-ԻՆչո՞ւ որոշեցիք մասնակցել Սևան երաժշտական փառատոնին:
-Միշտ Սևան գնալիս նստում եմ ափին ու երգում <<Թագվորագովքը>>: Փառատոնը և՛ անցկացման վայրով, և՛ ձևաչափով: Երբ հայտը կարդացի, որոշեցի անպայման մասնակցել: Ավանդական երգը ժամանակակից գործիքավորմամբ ներկայացնելը բավականին հետաքրքիր գործ է: Բացի այդ կարծում եմ՝ փառատոնի գույները շատ են, ու հաստատ արժե մասնակցել նմանատիպ գունեղ միջոցառումների:
